Causes of Back Acne Allergy

What are the Causes of Acne?

For the majority of people acne will begin at puberty with the influence of changing hormones.  A hormone called androgen cause the enlargement and over stimulation of the sebaceous glands in the people who suffer from acne.

A sensitivity to these type of hormones can also cause acne to appear in women during the menstrual cycle and occasionally during pregnancy.

An oil called sebum will mix with dead skin cells on the skins surface which leads to a blocking of the pores.  When this pore is blocked, bacteria multiplies and causes inflammation which leads to spots and pustules that are features of acne.

Stress

Stress has been known to be a cause of acne.  This is due to the body producing more of the hormone cortisol which can cause acne to appear.

Other causes

Some steroids and medications can sometimes trigger acne.
Acne can be genetic.
Certain foods are known to aggravate acne.
Overuse of heavy or oily makeup.
Picking or squeezing blackheads, whiteheads and spots can cause the infection to go deeper into the skin therefore prolonging the acne and possibly causing scarring.
Try to avoid caffeine as this increase hormone production
Lack of exercise can help balance the hormones and reduce stress levels.
Dehydration can be a cause of acne, this is because the skin needs to be hydrated in order to avoid blocked spores.

Things that do not cause acne

A lack of hygiene or dirt doesn’t cause acne, unless dirt comes into contact with the face on a daily basis.

Acne is not contagious or ‘catching’.
