Treatments for Itchy Back Acne

Staying Acne free

The fact is that there is no ‘quick fix’ for acne.  There are many factors that have to be taken into account when trying to get rid of acne.  Having a good healthy lifestyle and diet will cleanse your body from the inside out and be much better in the long term for the prevention of acne.

Diet and Acne

Avoiding certain foods can help control acne.

Dairy foods, such as milk, cheese, cream etc.
Meats for example beef, chicken, lamb and pork.
Cooked and refined carbohydrates for example flour, rice, crisps and sugar.

These foods are acid forming in the body and trying to cut down on your intake on foods such as these, eating foods such as fresh fruit and vegetables and seeds.

Skin care products

Some skincare products can dry the skin out which will cause the body to produce more oil to compensate.  The combination of dry skin and this extra oil can lead to the blocking of the pores and therefore more acne.

Look for the following ingredients in skincare products and avoid them.

Alcohol, isopropyl myristate, lanolin, sodium lauryl sulphate, sodium laureth sulphate, propylene glycol, mineral oil and parabens

Although excess oil on the skin can block pores and cause acne, there are oils that can actually help to balance the oil production of the skin.  Look for the following oils within natural oils in local health shops.

Oil products that use Jojoba oil as a base can help with your acne.
Lavender oil has soothing and healing qualities and is good for speeding up the healing of scars.
Tea tree oil is an antiseptic and is antibacterial, so it is great for treatment of existing infections.
Coconut oil can be used both on its own and products that use this as a base can be very good treatments for acne.

Keep your body well hydrated by drinking plenty of water and eating fresh fruit and vegetables will help to avoid blocked pores.
